Earth Day Events
Many area residents will gather at various venues across town the weekend of April 21st to celebrate the 37th annual Earth Day. This is a time to have fun while raising awareness of the Earth and its resources. Many of these events are free and open to the public.

In Richmond, the Earth Day celebration will be held along with the 14th Street Fish Festival and Mayor’s Walk and Roll on Saturday April 21st. This free event will be set up at the South end of the Mayo Bridge from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It will feature music, art, dance, science, fishing, and food, as well as many activities for families with children.

Henrico residents may want to check out the Earth Day celebration and the Grand Re-Opening of Three Lakes Nature Center and Aquarium at Three Lakes Park. It is also a free event on Saturday, April 21st from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Activities will include games, a petting zoo, arts and crafts, face painting, and much more.

The Chesterfield County Environmental Management and General Services departments will be hosting a free environmental fair on Saturday, April 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Chesterfield Towne Center. Here residents can learn how county departments are being responsible protectors of the environment.

Spring Clean Up & Recycling Events
Spring cleaning time is here! As you are cleaning your home, take time to recycle your old televisions, computer monitors, cell phones, and other electronics. On our website, you can find a list of accepted electronics, as well as drop off times and locations.

Also, we often forget that cleaning needs to happen outside of our homes as well. There are several local litter clean up events planned this spring, so be sure to check out our website to find an event in your area.

Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) is a public service authority that implements solid waste management and recycling programs for 13 local governments.
